ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Undivorced Indian Wife having Second Wedding arrested
Police have arrested an Indian wife after she married for the second time without divorcing her first husband.
The incident took place in the town of Tarn Taran Sahib, Punjab.
It was reported that the woman’s husband informed the police once he found out about his wife’s second marriage.
The man and woman had been married since 2010, however, when her uncle died, she moved back into her maternal home.
On February 13, 2020, the husband found out that his wife was going to marry another man without divorcing him first.
Jaswant Singh explained that he was married to Vikramjit Kaur and together, they had two children. They were parents to nine-year-old Jugraj and six-year-old Sahajdeep.
In 2019, Vikramjit’s uncle died and went to stay at her maternal home for one month.
However, she continued to stay at the house, making numerous excuses to justify her claims. Vikramjit ended up living at her maternal home for several months.
Meanwhile, a local informed Jaswant that his wife was planning to marry another man on February 14, 2020.
Jaswant was told that the marriage was taking place at a private venue in Pihowa. He was angered that his wife was getting married again without divorcing him.
He then went with his children and relatives to the police station where he informed officers about the matter and also demanded justice.
Police registered a case and went to the wedding venue.
By the time they arrived at the scene, the Indian wife was already married.
Officers questioned the second husband and found out that it was his second wedding also.
After coming to the conclusion that the matter was serious, police arrested the woman and took her to the police station in the wedding car. The vehicle was adorned with flowers.
The groom was also taken to the police station. Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing.
In a similar case, a former soldier went on the run after it emerged that he was married to three women.
Ajit Madar’s first wife filed a police complaint against him, his family and his third wife.
She explained that she was married to Madar in 2011 and they had two children. She claimed that there were no issues.
However, Madar began having an affair with another woman and later married her.
The first wife eventually found out and filed a complaint, resulting in Madar being sent on leave. He sought help from a woman and fell in love with her. They got married in secret.
After learning about her husband’s third wife and complaining to the police, Madar absconded in a bid to avoid police arrest.
